F.A.Q.
Q. How do I contact the
rescue squad?
A. If you have an emergency, dial
911!
Otherwise you can call directly into the station at 609-628-2476.
Q. Do you do transports?
A. We are a mix of paid and volunteer members. If you
need a transport either home from the hospital or to
another facility, call 609-628-2476. We will try to
get a volunteer crew to accomidate your needs. This,
however, is not a gurantee we can transport you. It
all depends on the availibility of our volunteer members.
Unfortunatley the paid members can not transport anyone
except to the hospital as an emergency.
Q. How do I join?
A. Print out an application and fill it out, drop it off in person or mail it to:
Upper Township Rescue Squad
Attn: Jay Potter
2028 Tuckahoe Road
Petersburg, NJ 08270
after we receive your application, someone will contact you with the next step!
Q. What do I need to do to
become an EMT?
A. To become an EMT, you need to have sucessfully completed
a healthcare level CPR course. Then sign up for the next
available EMT class. The course runs several months,
at two evenings a week, and some weekends.
Q. How do you stay up-to-date
with current medical standards?
A. Every EMT must attend Continuing Education Courses
to maintain their certification. Every 3 years an EMT
must obtain 24 Core CEU's, and 24 Elective CEU's. Most
training is paid for or provided by the Squad. If you
do not maintain the required CEU's, your EMT certification
will not be renewed by the state.
